Cool news! Gateway Bio, startup from the unlock_ cohort 2026-2027, won both the audience award and the Rough Diamond Award at the Philips Innovation Awards on Tuesday night
Earlier this year, the startup also won the top prize at the Gulliver Awards in Leiden.
About Gateway Bio
Gateway Bio is a biotech startup that aims to tackle antibiotic resistance with a new type of drug delivery system. The company is developing a modular nanocarrier platform that delivers antibiotics directly into bacterial cells, thereby bypassing the bacteria’s defense mechanisms. The platform is versatile and can be used with various types of antibiotics; it is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
The startup won over both the jury and the audience with a powerful speech and a clear explanation of the product.
In addition to the awards they’ve won, they were also officially announced last week as a spin-off of the University of Twente.
